Terms of service.
Last updated June 25, 2026
1. Acceptance of these terms
By creating an account, signing in, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you are authorised to accept these Terms on its behalf. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. The Service
Jaz is a personal AI built on coding agents. It lets you run threads, schedule loops, build boards of live artifacts, keep persistent memory, and control git, primarily on machines you own. We may add, change, or remove features over time, and we may impose reasonable limits on use to keep the Service stable and secure.
3. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 16 years old (or the age of digital consent in your country) to use the Service. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity that happens under your account. Notify us promptly at support@jaz.chat if you suspect unauthorised use.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- break the law or infringe the rights of others, including intellectual property and privacy rights;
- distribute malware, attempt to gain unauthorised access to systems, or interfere with the Service;
- generate or distribute content that is unlawful, harmful, harassing, or that violates the policies of the AI providers you connect through Jaz;
- reverse engineer, resell, or circumvent technical limits of the Service except to the extent the law expressly permits;
- misrepresent your identity or use the Service to deceive others.
We may suspend or restrict access if we reasonably believe you are violating these Terms.
5. Your content and data
You retain all rights to the content you create, run, or store with Jaz (“Your Content”). We do not claim ownership of Your Content. Because Jaz is local-first, most of Your Content stays on your own devices. You grant us only the limited rights necessary to operate the Service and provide the features you use, and you are responsible for ensuring you have the rights to the content you process.
6. Third-party services and your keys
Jaz connects to third-party model providers and tools — such as Anthropic, OpenAI, and xAI — using the accounts, plans, or API keys you supply. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and pricing, and you are responsible for any charges they impose and for complying with their policies. We are not responsible for third-party services, and their availability or behaviour is outside our control.
7. Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, and branding, is owned by the operator and protected by intellectual property laws. Except for rights expressly granted to you, we reserve all rights in the Service. The “Jaz” name and logo may not be used without our permission. Where parts of Jaz are made available under an open-source licence, that licence governs your use of those parts.
8. Plans and payment
Some features of the Service may be offered free of charge and others as paid plans. If you purchase a paid plan, we will disclose the price, billing period, and renewal terms at the point of purchase. Unless stated otherwise or required by law, fees are non-refundable. We may change pricing on a prospective basis with reasonable notice.
9. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. AI agents can produce inaccurate, incomplete, or unexpected output; you are responsible for reviewing and verifying any output before relying on it, especially for code, financial, legal, or other consequential decisions. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amounts you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim or GBP 100. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the operator from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your misuse of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of the rights of any third party.
12. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. On termination, the rights granted to you under these Terms end, while the sections that by their nature should survive (including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification) will continue to apply.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. The courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service, except where mandatory consumer-protection law gives you the right to bring proceedings in your country of residence.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and take reasonable steps to notify you. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
